Bassist and composer David Lockeretz, based in Central Massachusetts, recently released his single Number 4 Train. This playful jazz Americana instrumental features tight structure, intense narration, and a lovely piano, combined with a magic, hollow bass, and solid rhythm section. Its old-school flavor transports listeners to a bygone era, roughly the 1940s-1950s, when innocence and arrogance were intertwined, and the only information passengers had was the next train on the platform and the person seated opposite them.
