Using the pen name Gae Vinci, the Sicilian music producer began his career in the mid-2000s under various aliases. Renowned for his creativity, Vinci refuses to be confined to a single genre, drawing influences from electronic, shoegaze, and folk. His latest single, Dust, is a collaboration with Black Snake Moan. If there’s a genre capturing the essence of spring transitioning to summer, it’s neo-psychedelia. Dust encapsulates this, with swirly vintage sounds transporting listeners to a 1960s American road trip. Influences of The Brian Jonestown Massacre and Galaxie 500 are evident, enhanced by mixing at Los Angeles’ Palomino Sound Studio. Featuring asynchronous tambourines and guitars by Tommaso M. Storari, Dust originated from the 2021 Lonely Ballads sessions.
Last but not least, Black Snake Moan’s baritone voice adds a soulful depth, perfecting this retro-flavored release.
