Milk St. hit Toyota Corolla with the kind of restless energy that makes alternative rock feel alive again. Guitars start relatively loose before the track opens into bigger riffs, while the drums keep everything pushing forward with a scrappy, almost reckless momentum. There is a strong melodic instinct underneath the noise, giving the song plenty of hooks without sanding away its rough edges. Jonah Wakefield’s vocals add another layer of nervous energy, balancing vulnerability with a slightly crooked sense of humor. The result sits comfortably between indie rock, emo and folk punk, but Milk St. never sound overly concerned with staying inside any of those boxes. Toyota Corolla feels like a snapshot of a band that has spent years playing together, touring hard and letting the songs grow naturally through performance. Raw, catchy and gloriously restless.

Big riffs for small disasters.
